When she has a moment to relax, she bikes, works out at the gym, goes to the movies with her family and friends, and visits her favorite college spots… the Cheese Shop, Pauls Deli, and Wythe’s Candies at her Alma Mater, The College of William and Mary.
Vice President Elect-VACANT
Although the Vice President position is currently vacant, we are seeking a candidate that will make themselves available to assist our President wherever possible, filling in during her absences, and offering your support as she takes on her new role leading our chapter. The position is designed so that you can learn about the role of Chapter President during this period ultimately leading to a smooth transition at the end of 2010.
Shirley Kennedy and Maria Kuhn, Chapter Secretary/Board Secretary
As the Chapter’s Secretaries, you are each responsible for recording the minutes of the business/board meetings of the chapter, maintain the permanent records for the chapter and handle all official correspondence.
Maria has agreed to serve as the Co Secretary for our Board meetings. After serving as our President and being our advisor, we are extremely excited to have her remain active on the upcoming Board. Maria is the Executive Assistant to Daniel Hoffler, Chairman of Armada Hoffler, located here in Virginia Beach’s Town Center. Maria first joined our chapter in 2003 as the representative for WVEC-TV until May of 2007 when she accepted her current position at Armada Hoffler. Maria served on the Board as chapter secretary, Program Director and most recently as our Vice President-President Elect.
Although Shirley is not new to the organization, this is her first Board position. Shirley currently is a mortgage officer with Towne Bank, a generous company that gives back to the community and allows her the flexibility to work at the office or out of my home office and at any branch that is convenient for my customers.
Shirley prior to banking, remodeled homes which is where she developed the love for working with bank financing. She still spends time on building projects. Shirley and her husband of 36 years are currently renovating a home for their daughter and will soon start on the construction of a new home for their son. She has two very loving granddaughters, one 3 and one 6 years old, who spend at least one night during the weekend with her and her husband.
We are delighted that Shirley has decided to handle minutes and correspondence for the Chapter at our Chapter meetings.
